Scarlett Leiva, immigration attorney, Leiva Law Firm

More than forms. A team that knows you and your case

  • A primary paralegal works with you and becomes familiar with your case instead of passing you from person to person.
  • Your attorney provides legal strategy and guidance from the beginning through the covered final stages of your case.
  • We identify legal and factual risks, prepare you if an interview is scheduled, and help you respond appropriately in today's changing immigration environment.

You are not hiring us just to complete forms. A primary paralegal becomes familiar with your case, and your attorney provides strategy and guidance from the beginning through the covered final stages. We explain government updates and help you understand the next steps.

You provide the facts and documents. We prepare and guide the legal case.

Convenient online access with a consistent paralegal, a personal case team, and attorney guidance from start to finish.

What happens next After you retain us

Most of the questions new clients ask in the first few weeks are about the same seven things. Here is how it works.

Do I have to prepare the immigration forms myself?

No. You provide the information and documents we ask for, and we take care of preparing your case. Our team prepares the forms, reviews your evidence, identifies any legal issues, sets the strategy, and prepares the filing. Before anything is submitted, you review the completed forms for accuracy and sign where required.

Can I complete everything from home?

Yes. Questionnaires and documents are completed or uploaded through our secure client portal, and we communicate through the portal and email. You do not need to come into an office to complete paperwork or drop off documents.

Should I email my documents or upload them to the portal?

Your case documents belong in the portal. We communicate through both email and the portal, but uploading documents directly to the portal keeps everything together with your case, so our team can organize, track, and review your file properly.

Who do I contact with a question about my case?

Your primary paralegal is your main contact for day-to-day questions about documents, questionnaires, forms, the portal, and routine case preparation. Legal questions are reviewed by the legal team and directed to your paralegal and the attorney as appropriate. Because the attorney's schedule includes consultations and USCIS interviews, this structure gets your question to the right person.

When will my case be filed?

Once your portal is complete, our team begins preparing and reviewing your case. If we need anything further, we'll reach out to you. Once everything is ready, the attorney completes the legal review before your forms are sent to you for review and signature. Most cases are prepared within the timeframe stated in your agreement, but additional time may be needed if information or documents are missing or further review is required.

Are USCIS or government filing fees included in my legal fees?

No. Our legal fees cover the professional services of Leiva Law Firm. USCIS and other government filing fees are separate and are paid directly to the government agency. We keep government fees separate from our legal fees and payment plans, and when your case is ready for filing we will tell you which government fees apply and how to pay them.

How will I know when there is an update, or when you need something from me?

You do not need to chase us for updates. We contact you when we need something from you, when your case is ready for your review and next steps, and when we receive a notice or a meaningful development from USCIS. When an update arrives, we explain what it means and whether anything is needed from you. If USCIS has not issued anything new, there may simply be no update to share yet.

If your question is not here, send it through the portal and your paralegal will pick it up.

You do not have to navigate the immigration process alone.

Work with a consistent legal team that knows your case, prepares you for each covered stage, and helps you understand what comes next.

New matters begin with a free case evaluation. Cases already filed, or involving an RFE, NOID, denial, or criminal history, begin with a paid attorney case review.
